In the year 1995, MKT set up a ‘Comprehensive Vocational Training & Rehabilitation’ center, in order to cater to special young minds with afflictions related to that of mental challenges and coach them in becoming independent and self-sustaining. As a memorable tribute to the beloved departed soul, Late Shri Maheshbhai Kothari, Manav Kalyan Trust built a secondary school for the speech & hearing impaired in June 2013. Today, MSKSS provides free & comprehensive day and residential secondary school program for the speech & hearing impaired students, giving them a chance to learn and prosper. Our mission at MSKSS is to nourish students and strengthen their abilities, enabling the students to become well equipped to deal with the challenges of adult life. It is our goal to provide students with an academically rigorous program that develops them into self-directed, independent & resourceful human beings who demonstrate essential knowledge, literacy and adequate social skills necessary to be effective, productive, and contributing members of society.

Smt. Sandra Rajju Shroff Training and Rehabilitation Centre for the Handicapped

At Smt. Sandra Rajju Shroff Training and Rehabilitation Centre for the Handicapped, children undergo a special training programme where they participate in activities like screen printing, tailoring, photo lamination, embroidery work, knitting, light engineering and gardening. Established in the year 1995, this “Vocational Centre” has educated hundreds and thousands of students and made them independent in life.

PRINTERY (PRESS) & KALAKENDRA

Art speaks where words are unable to explain. Art is the most essential, indispensable & intrinsic element of life through which any communication barrier can be crossed! With a deep understanding & belief of this principle, Mr. & Mrs. Kanjibhai Patel initiated the Printery (press) & Kalakendra at Manav Kalyan Trust. From printing to sewing to knitting and more, children are educated and guided in these fields, thus enabling them to explore and understand the essence of life.

Hand Made Paper Manufacturing Unit

As part of our vocational training center at Manav Kalyan Trust, Navsari, a non-profit project was undertaken to set up a Hand Paper making unit for the distinctively abled individuals i.e. individuals suffering from hearing impairment, visual impairment and mental challenges. The project involved setting up a physical workshop space where the teachers as well as students of the organization will be trained in the art of producing handmade paper, as well as other products out of that very paper. This unit was set up in April 2013, with the main focus directed towards Motivation, Training, Information Dissemination, and Technical Assistance, so that they be able to make an honest living.

Audio-visual digital Classroom

Technology has completely transformed the way information is made available, transmitted and perceived. With access to an almost infinite pool of digital resources, learning is no longer limited to classrooms. Education is no longer constrained to any building with professors and labs. The advent of new technological tools has made it possible for distantly located students to collaborate with their instructors and peers for learning new skills and acquiring knowledge. With the help of state-of-the-art technology, our ‘Digital Interactive Classroom’ is packaged with a robust infrastructure that helps schools and students to become globally competent, bringing tomorrow’s education to us today. Digital Interactive Classroom covers the complete curriculum of the State Board of Secondary Education (SBSE), which gets seamlessly integrated with the school syllabus.

Residential School For Blind And Visually Impaired Shivarimal

To bring colour’s into the lives of the blind, our late founder took it upon himself to set up a school in 2007, where every visually impaired child could experience life, love and kindness in a homely and safe environment. In the year 2007, Manav Kalyan Trust, in it’s evaluation of support for the disabled, perceived a lack of rehabilitation care for people with disability in the most educationally and economically rearward tribal area of Dang District, Gujarat. Manav Kalyan Trust decided to expand its existing activities and started a ‘Free Residential School for Children with Visual Impairment (Blind)’ near village Shivarimal, Dist – Dang. At present, 167 children with Visual Impairment are being catered to for free institutional care and education in 6 acre land. Foundation stone for the proposed school was laid by Hon. Governor of Gujarat Dr. (Smt.) Kamla Beniwal on 8th April 2010.

It was a challenging decision to set up a school for the blind, visually impaired and physically handicapped special children, but it has turned out to be a boon to the tribal society where the need for such a facility was long felt. The main idea behind setting up the school was to offer a well blended educational paradigm of special and mainstream education, with emphasis on Braille and mobility training to the resident students. In order to provide an ambiance that’s barriers-free and easily accessible for people with disability, we constructed an intricately planned, brand-new campus for this residential school . The uniqueness of this campus lies in the fact that facilities like a well-equipped sports ground and a beautiful recreational park have been arranged for the 360 degree development of each student.

Manav Kalyan Trust makes an active effort to manage the residential school, by giving blind children a loving home, square meals, and a nurturing environment focused on building personal strength and a positive attitude. This facility also extends help to elderly blind people in surrounding areas. Over the past 10 years, Manav Kalyan Trust has supported this school with financial help of well wishers and donors.

Through the multiple generous contributions of Manav Kalyan Trust, the school now has the latest computer systems and a state-of-the-art braille printer. With the braille printer in place, the school now possesses the capability to emboss its own educational material at its convenience. Today, the Blind School is operating successfully across all domains, whether it be academic growth or personal development. Our newly built hostel is equipped with all the facilities required to have a comfortable stay, and an open playground designed to ensure that students have a fun yet safe environment.

School for the Blind and Visually Impaired offers statewide quality educational programs and resources to students who are blind or visually impaired under the impeccable guidance of our visually impaired principal. This enables our students to become productive and self-sufficient, preparing them to be the citizens of tomorrow.

Regular Vision Assessment

Being a progressive institute, we have appointed Mr. Prashant Patel, Optometrist specializing in Low Vision assessment; for periodic assessment of vision. Mr. Prashant renders his services in all four schools. The assessment is carried out every three months with following objectives.

Primary Assessment for early diagnoses of New Enrolment.
Optimum utilization of residual vision in case of Low Vision.
Prompt guidance to check faulty practice.

2001 A.D – Stone Laying Ceremony of Lions Welfare Center for Kitchen / Dinning Hall and Hostel for Elderly Handicapped : Stone laying ceremony of hostel for elderly handicapped was held on 12th November 2001 in the August presence of divine saint Shri Jashbahi Saheb of Anoopam Mission, Mogari. (Swaminarayan sect) and dignitaries like Shri & Shrimati Santibhai Mistry from South Africa, Shri Dhyabhai and Shusilaben from South Africa this event was also witness by a large gathering of his devotees of saint Shri Jashbhai Saheb and the donors and well wishers of “Mamta Mandir”.

With a firm belief in this philosophy, Balaji school was established to nurture the minds of differently abled children, and bring out the best in them.They smile, they laugh, they play, and they cry. They experience every emotion that any other human does. They long for affection, a touch that says I care, All we need to do is listen, and be there for them! As an attempt to care for the mentally retarded children, to give them an encouraging environment, to identify their talents and nurture them, Shri. Balaji Residential School was inaugurated in the year 1992. It has brought smiles to hundreds of faces, hopes in thousands of hearts and a purpose in the lives of millions. This school was uniquely conceived, designed and built in 1992 keeping in mind the need of very special children of God, the one who are afflicted with a variety of mental challenges. The campus provides excellent facilities to resident and day scholars.

Our institute offers a well balanced educational paradigm where normal and special education streams are well blended and meaningfully structured, keeping in mind each child’s’ personal and therapeutic needs, as well as the challenges they face. A huge variety of approaches and education methods are designed for these children by our faculty members and educators.We endeavor to provide scientific diagnostic services to children with mental retardation. This is done in order to determine their degree of mental retardation, identify developmental needs and recommend appropriate training to achieve maximum level of performance. An interdisciplinary team comprising of experts such as Special Educators & Physiotherapists impart a structured, age appropriate individualized training. We also impart training in skills such as self-help, communication, interaction, functional academics, domestic chores, leisure time activities and community orientation. Children from neighborhood areas attend the school as day students.

Physiotherapy Center

In order to deal with, and enhance the physical health of our school children, our institute possesses a physiotherapy unit with highly sophisticated units. Under the guidance of a qualified full time physiotherapist, we strive to enhance the capability of our children towards functional independence. Not only the residents, but also the children diagnosed with cerebral palsy, multiple handicap and other physical ailments, coming from regions in and around Navsari, are trained here. The treatment that we provide is mainly based on Neuro Developmental Therapy, which is currently followed in most institutions operating on cerebral palsy children. Through our Sensory Integration Room, special facilities are also made available in order to improve the sensory integration for young children. These services are intended to provide preventive, curative and remedial services for children aged between 0 to 16 years with delay in milestones & development. A team of professionals (consisting of a special educator and a pediatrician) carry out this intensive program. Our early intervention program provides individualized care to each child, thus helping them to achieve their full potential in the shortest time possible.

“Manav Kalyan Trust” was fortunate to have Spiritual Luminary Revered Saint Shri Ramdasji Maharaj of Sant Ram Mandir, Nadiad, to inaugurate the Bagmalbhai Laxmichand Parikh Boys & Girls Hostel in the year 1997. He showered his blessings to the children of “Mamta Mandir”.

On this event our Deaf children performed an excellent cultural program. Hon. Minister for Social rights and justice for state of Gujarat Hon. Shri Fakirbhai Vaghela graced this occasion with his presence and blessings. Also the family members of Bagmalbhai Laxmichand family dignified the occasion with their presence. This ceremony was made successful by donors and huge gathering of well wishers of “Mamta Mandir”.

Established in 1971, the school for the deaf gave us an opportunity to understand the tremendous potential of these young minds, and a proof that communication and creativity has no barriers. The foundation of P.S. Kothari Multipurpose School was laid by the then President of India, Shri V.V.Giri. This special school was set up with the intention of imparting quality education to children having speech and hearing impairments as well as children with physical handicaps. Apart from providing primary vocational training, vital activities are conducted by professionals for the overall development of both mind & body. It has rendered unique services to the society by offering a well-blended mainstream education plan and special life-skills totally free of charge. It is very well observed that if the inner strength of the despaired children is guided well they can work wonders. Giving Parallel type of opportunity to such children for computer education can be a wonderful thing for them. Honorable Union Cabinet Minister for Textiles , Shri Kashirambhai Rana allotted a handsome amount from his M.P.’s Fund for this purpose along with courtesy extended by the family and friends of Late Shri Chhimbhai Dandikar (UK). This is how computer center came into existence in Manav Kalyan Trust. All Deaf Students from v th standard onwards are given Computer Training so that they can join the main stream of society.

Dental Care Unit

As part of our up-gradation of the team of health care professionals, we commenced with a dental care unit headed by Dr. Abdul Wahid, visiting dentist. Our objective of dental care is not only constrained to treatment, but also focuses on comprehensive interception and prevention through various aids such as fluorides, varnish, pit & fissure sealants, brushing technique demonstration & training.
